My client is looking for a regional Transport Manager who will be accountable for circa300 Large Goods Vehicle



and £25m transport p.a costs. This will include own fleet vehicles & drivers, contract hauliers and



subcontractors.



Client Details

Due to the 24/7 operations within the business this will include the ability to manage circa 500 direct and indirect employees, over both day and night [link removed] multi Billion pound client is a market leader and this role will provide a cost effective, sustainable, safe & customer focused transport operation for the [link removed] position will prove a strategic transport focused platform for the Area, to complement the regional strategy, whilst creating the ability to maximise and develop the flexibility of the fleet.

Description

  • Responsible for setting and managing the implementation of the short, medium and long term strategy



of the Area transport operations.



• Responsible for the continuous improvement of the safety performance of the Area transport



operations.



• Responsible for ensuring that all own fleet drivers and hauliers (contract) are inducted in H&S



policies and local procedures, including operating to all ‘O’ License legislation.



• Responsible for ensuring that the regular vehicle safety audits of roadworthiness and compliance with

vehicle standards are carried out by the transport department.

• Responsible for ensuring all records of inductions and audits are kept up to date.

• Ensure adherence to transport policies and processes.

• Actively contribute to and manage communication and engagement standard within the Area, in line

with the Regional and National standards. .

• Responsible for ensuring all incidents/complaints/issues relating to our own fleet drivers, contract

hauliers or hire hauliers are investigated thoroughly and actions implemented fully.

• Strategically plan and build relationships with third party haulage suppliers, to be able to provide a

medium to long term plan to have a flexible fleet to meet demand.

• Act as transport capacity input to S&OP process and ensure Area transport compliance.

• Manage fleet profile, to a future proof state, by ensuring that all developments in the industry are

investigated and reviewed on their overall benefit whilst ensuring that best

practice is shared.

• Liaises with operational area management to ensure haulier champions and representatives are in

place and working to the profiles of the role.

• Responsible for setting the standards and managing the continuous improvement, through Area,

Regional and National KPI’s.



• Accountable for ensuring customer site inductions are carried out when required.



Profile



A strong understanding of transport regulations regarding ‘O’ Licence, Driver Hours,



Construction and Use Regulations



• Proven experience of managing road health and safety



• Ability to manager contracts and contractors



• Ability to manage a team of professional to achieve and area strategy which is aligned



to the Regional and National strategy.



• Have track record of contract negotiations.



• Knowledge of financial reporting and process awareness.



• Strong, proven people management and coaching skills



• Ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.



• Able challenge on a process and behavioural level.
