Our client is a rapidly expanding and well-established manufacturer of metal pressings & welded assemblies and supplies the major automotive OEMS and Tier 1 suppliers across Europe from sites within the UK, Poland and Eastern Europe.

This is a new role due to impressive organic growth, and offers an opportunity for an experienced Automotive Sector Business Development and Key Account Manager to showcase their impressive ability to secure long-lasting lucrative relationships with Automotive OEMS and 1st Tiers.

Reporting directly to the UK based Business Development & Key Accounts Director, your role will involve pan European visits to both existing and new customers.

The prime focus of the Automotive Business Development & Key Account Manager is to generate new business through targeting new companies and discussing our client’s portfolio of quality engineering solutions whilst maximising the potential of the company.
You will work closely with European customers, generating new business opportunities in line with the strategy. The objective will be double digit growth and the target is to increase revenue potential, employing all efforts to ensure the growth targets set are hit, or ideally exceeded.

The Role:

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing, defining, negotiating, and closing new business with Automotive OEMs and Tier 1’s. They will develop and implement strategic plans to manage and drive direct sales engagements, expand the organization's product reach and profit revenues by identifying new markets and attracting new customers. You will maintain the highest possible standards of customer centricity. You will manage and control the profitability of automotive OEM and Tier 1 sales whilst negotiating terms of business with clients to achieve win:win results that provide the basis for strong ongoing long term relationships.

• Actively manage commercial relationship with key automotive OEMs and major Tier 1 manufacturers.
• Define measures for target achievements with respect to new business, price management and budget requirements.
• Conduct and coordinate financial, product, market, operational and related research to support strategic business planning and quoting.
• Ensure that all organisational goals for new customer projects are met and escalate deviations to the Engineering and Manufacturing Directors.
• Maintains RFQ/quote models and associated customer assumptions including capital and tooling approval.
• Identify market needs, changing market conditions, and competitive advantages.
• Contribute to marketing efforts in order to increase the pace of customer acquisition and project execution.
• Ability to travel through mainland Europe on a regular basis.
• Ensure a high level of customer presence, providing a “one face” customer interface, to promote our client’s Innovations, engineering technical differentiators and manufacturing footprint towards pan European automotive OEM and Tier 1 customers.
• Maintaining the revenue and gross profit of accounts ensuring profitability in line with annual targets.
• Identify and exhaust all additional revenue streams opportunities (trial material, tooling, engineering sales).

The Ideal Candidate:
• Degree level or equivalent in Engineering, Manufacturing or Business-related degree.
• To be successful in this role you will have a strong demonstrable track record of success working as Sales Manager, Commercial Manager, Senior Business Development or Senior Key Account Manager within the Automotive Sector selling to OEM’s and Tier 1 manufacturers.
• 5-10 years automotive sales, business development and key account management experience; well-connected with a network of proven relationships within Automotive OEM’s and Tier 1 manufacturers.
• Experience of selling metal pressings, tooling and welded assemblies to Automotive OEM’s and Tier 1 manufacturers.
• Both a new business “hunter” and key account management “farmer” mentality.
• Experienced in devising and executing commercial business strategy, and able to technically converse and negotiate with engineering, purchasing and supply chain contacts in relation to product testing, quality, approval, sign off and delivery.
• Experience of complex product costing and commercial negotiations.
• A patient and consultative technical sales professional, able to manage multiple projects and a large pipeline of potential.  Used to working autonomously, self-driven and self-managing.
• Strong business acumen, problem solving, analytical and negotiation skills
• Highly motivated with a strong sense of work ethic and drive to succeed
• Able to facilitate the development of a results orientated environment and set high standards for the new business and key account function,
• Fluency in Business English a prerequisite.  Fluency in a second business language such as German, French or Spanish would be highly advantageous.
