Due to continual growth my client is looking to recruit an ambitious and enthusiastic Assistant/Junior Buyer who is looking to make their first career move within the Procurement and Purchasing world. Working for a leading scientific and research company based in Cambridgeshire and working within a well structured and supportive team, you will play a key role in supporting all procurement activity across a broad range of spend commodities.

My client is a global leader in its field, with operations across 14 countries worldwide. This role offers clear career progression, so if you are currently in a position with no opportunity of climbing the ladder, then this is the role for you.

Responsibilities:
  • Support or lead the negotiation of price agreements and service & supply contracts to obtain best ultimate cost for the business
  • Develop and maintain excellent professional relationships and networks with internal customers and external suppliers
  • Undertake and provide assistance with project work as agreed with the Department Senior Management Team.
  • Support or lead the tactical procurement of goods and services in one or more categories. Key purchasing interface with implementing initiatives with supplier base such as product launches, quality improvements, cost reduction, risk management and capacity expansion
  • Support or lead the processes of supply selection. Assure commercial agreements are kept current, and opportunities are realised for future value delivery for the company
  • Support or lead new sourcing, bidding, bench marking and negotiations to meet business area requirements which support continuous improvement in terms of Quality, Service and Total Cost of Ownership
  • Support or conduct regular Supplier Relationship Management process with key suppliers focusing on risk assessment, quality delivery and cost improvement
  • Generate purchase requisitions for suppliers, equipment and services according to departmental procedures
  • Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures and ensure compliance
  • Maintain strong and productive relationships with key stakeholders to assess risk, review future strategies and identify potential cost reduction and improvement opportunities as well as future initiatives
  • Achieve customer satisfaction through agreed performance criteria
