The successful Buyer in Purchasing and Procurement will be have:

To initiate and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal and external customers

To ensure the most cost effective inflow of materials and service through the application of purchasing best practice in accordance with operating principles.

To manage a portfolio of supplier relationships and to support colleagues with their workload as required to assure team delivery

To identify alternative suppliers ensuring due diligence is carried out in a timely and professional manner.

Differentiate supplier relationships and to analyse which type of approach is the most effective for each material / service at any given time.

To adhere to, and comply with BRUSH codes of practice.

Review and contribute to the delivery of personal, departmental and business metrics and KPIs

Prepare and provide constructive contributions with team meetings that develop the business and department agenda as well as enhancing personal and team development

Drive the development of purchasing excellence within BRUSH.

To negotiate Supply Agreements/Service Level agreements/contracts as applicable

To create Category Sourcing plans for each area of expenditure

The successful Buyer in Purchasing and Procurement will have to demondstrate:

Computer literate with the ability to maintain accurate records

Ability to work with all recognised IT systems including proficiency of use in Microsoft Office applications, (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, etc.) and internet/intranet applications

Capacity planning

Proven track record in a similar role within a technical environment

Understanding of the commodity market and reviewing Price indices

Vendor performance

Familiar with product design and manufacturing processes and material specifications

Extensive experience in commercial business and purchasing practices (CIPS qualified preferential)

Supply chain control – internal and external

Familiar and competent in Manufacturing Database Systems

Ability to develop good supplier relationships

Experience in sourcing and procurement for a manufacturing company

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Proven track record in developing and maintaining highly effective working relationships at all levels

Willingness to adopt new approaches
