The Buyer is responsible for the 'on time' supply of procured parts, services and assemblies for the business in accordance with internal policies and procedures. Working within the procurement team, they will assure that high quality is delivered and will demonstrate value for money through the company procurement process. A Buyer will ensure the supplied material or service meets the needs of the business while helping to deliver the company strategy.

Example responsibilities include:
  • Reporting to the Procurement Manager within the Integrated Supply Chain Team
  • Managing assigned categories, suppliers, and purchases to meet the business and stakeholder needs
  • Ensuring that all deliveries are made to the agreed deadlines
  • To liaise with suppliers, organise delivery schedules and ensuring accurate lead times
  • Carry out regular and appropriate supplier reviews to ensure that the performance and quality of service & goods are met
  • Co-ordinate regular meetings with suppliers and site visits, and produce visit reports to record outcomes and actions to address business issues and improvement plans
  • Cost effectiveness: Purchase parts demonstrating value for money and from a perspective of total acquisition cost without affecting either the quality of the goods or delivery deadlines
  • Creating and maintaining long-term supplier contracts and single source contracts
  • Responsible for managing the suppliers to the contracts or T&C’s agreed
  • Quality control: To ensure that the supply of parts to the company meet the high standards of quality expected by the company

To be considered for this role you should:

  • Be qualified or working towards a MCIPS qualification
  • Have previous work experience in a fast turnaround business with challenging and often changing deadlines
  • Possess a strong teamwork ethic with a "Can do" attitude towards your work
  • Have Intermediate Excel skills with a good understanding of other Microsoft office packages
