Category / Contracts Manager

6 MONTH Contract

My Client are recruiting for a category Manager ASAP; you will be required to tender for a variety of categories and to operate within the framework of the Procurement and Commissioning strategy. Markeing exposure is preferred but not essential.

  • Take the lead in relation to nominated and agreed categories operating within a Category Management Structure
  • To execute an annual procurement plan for the nominated category based on requirements defined as high value, risk and complexity
  • Take day to day management responsibility for a team member dedicated to the nominated category of spend
  • Development and implementation of agreed procurement strategies across your  given category, ensuring compliance to procedure, process and category management, prioritises improvement projects within the strategy in order to deliver optimum value for money 
  • Management of stakeholders to promote the benefits of the category management approach; lead cross-functional teams to identify/challenge category requirements.
  • Have overall responsibility for an agreed range of supplier related contractual arrangements in relation to the nominated category. Establish a detailed contract management programme and ensure that the timetable is adhered to
  • Manage cost reduction and added value projects – from Quick Win delivery to longer term performance improvement projects
  •  Ensure as far as practicable the use of standard formal documentation and procedures


This role would be suitable for Procurement Manager or Senior Procurement Manager or Category manager or Category Specialist or Category Lead or Procurement Project Manager or Procurement lead or Procurement Specialist or Procurement Manager or Sourcing Manager
