Two permanent Category Management positions (for both software and IT Services) within a prominent, high profile, progressive financial services organisation have arisen, and require a driven, motivated and commercially aware procurement professional to add value to an already skilled team.

Your Next Position

As a Category Manager, you will help take the lead on the implementation of robust and forward-looking category plans to deliver commercial advantage for the business, on both a domestic and international scale. Other key responsibilities include:

• Identifying new outsourcing opportunities, and assessing their relevance in conjunction with the Global Category Manager to ensure they deliver commercial benefit to the organisation.

• Developing influential senior level relationships with individuals from various business units to ensure alignment between their objectives, and those of the procurement department, thus facilitating the creation of effective category plans.

• Developing an understanding of complex business problems, and applying advanced analytical thinking/market knowledge to achieve positive business outcomes.

• Constantly monitoring the supplier market to identify any new opportunities that may arise as a consequence of new product offerings and/or market shifts, including the entry or exit of suppliers, or changes in pricing/risk.


The pre-requisites for success

You will have extensive experience in the end to end delivery of large and complex IT procurement projects, twinned with knowledge of different commercial models and IT programmes. This will be complimented by Category Management experience in the financial services sector, and the ability to deploy strong negotiation skills to influence a range of strategic vendors on a global scale. From a cultural perspective, candidates will need to be a self-starter, and thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
