Your new role
You will pursue procurement excellence and value for money through the implementation of professional, efficient and effective procurement practices. To implement a defined portfolio of sourcing categories and deliver specified savings. To work closely with Senior Faculty and Directorate budget holders to ensure efficient and compliant procurement routes are followed.

Duties include:
  • To explore the benefits and risks of different types of procurement methods and recommend and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Analyse supply market players, supply market conditions and relevant cost drivers, in order to reduce cost and ensure value for money.
  • Develop and Implement sourcing strategies for the various spend categories. Lead, motivate and develop the Junior Category Analyst, including identification of training needs & personal development such that staff are able to work autonomously.
  • Create a high performing motivated team through a culture of training, coaching, mentoring and continuous improvement. To manage and deliver the procurement message across the business, to ensure all buyers and influencers in category areas are aware of the potential benefits and accountability in complying with the Procurement, Financial and Legal Regulations.
  • Promote the use of the University’s contract and tender software, Intend to internal and external category stakeholders.
  • Prepare tender documentation on Intend, and go out to market to ensure value for money and compliance in each tender and contract.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in this post you will be ambitious, have drive and be excellent on excel! My client is looking for an individual who has 1 -3 years experience in Procurement and looking for an opportunity to develop. With the option of CIPS study support and full backing from the Procurement Director, this is a great opportunity to shape your procurement career into category management.

Skills and attributes required:
  • Understanding of category Management or Procurement
  • Excellent problem solving abilities.
  • Able to work closely with colleagues and customers to build relationships and offer excellent customer service.
  • Ability to display a good level of numeracy and literacy with a strong attention to detail
  • Be able to write formal reports, presentations and other documents in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to analyse and manipulate complex information and present logically.
