East Devon based Public Sector Organisation seeks experienced Purchasing professional for new permanent opportunity.

Your new role

As Category Manager will be responsible for managing your category of spend on behalf of my client. You will be tasked with delivering continuous benefits, savings, efficiencies and improvements to goods and services through the development of category strategies. Your duties include (but are not limited to):
  • To be responsible for the development, innovation and implementation of allocated Category
  • Act as a lead advisor in all commercial and contractual matters within category
  • Ensure that effective communication and engagement are maintained with all key stakeholders at local, collaborative and national level.
  • Develop, review and update the category management plan to deliver a continuous value creation programme in the light of changing market and business conditions.

What you'll need to succeed

To be chosen for the role you must possess the following skills/attributes:

  • Experience of managing the end-to-end European Union tendering process
  • Good communication skills including ability to present information concisely
  • Strong Negotiation skills
  • Ability to plan priorities and an understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Excellent written skills and experience of leading on business benefit analysis, strategy development, business cases to advise on sourcing/procurement approaches.
  • Good understanding of Public Sector procurement.
  • Ability to identify opportunities, negotiate, persuade and influence others to achieve favourable outcomes and deliver, implement and manage change.
  • Qualified to degree level with relevant post qualification - Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (Professional Diploma Level - MCIPS) or equivalent.
