Category Office required for 3 months for Central Government public sector provider based in Port Talbot

Your new role
To manage the timely negotiation of a range of allocated contracts that offer value for money utilising electronic tools, from the identification of demand through to the award and publication of contracts in line with the published category contract programme ensuring compliance with Organisational standards and relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities
  • Support the Category Manager to work with Heads of Procurement to maximise Supply Chain opportunities, rationalisation & ensure value for money
  • To manage the on-going monitoring and performance of contracts & suppliers through the use of bench-marking information and other business intelligence.
  • Play a key role in supporting the Organisations Continuous Improvement Culture
  • Manage accurately the data held within the business’ key operating systems in compliance with the Common Operating Models and data standards
  • Manage the timely and accurate dissemination of information to and from stakeholders
  • Seek evaluate and organise information that supports the measurement of business performance to include balanced scorecard KPI's and data from other partner organisations
  • Analyse complex data sets, identifying areas of further investigation and making proposals for further action.
  • Ensure the systematic use of the business’ various IT systems primarily around E-Enablement and proactively identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop a detailed knowledge of the Category portfolio keeping abreast of market changes and developments that may impact on the business
  • Analyse non staff expenditure to identify areas of activity not currently influenced by Procurement and make recommendations for future opportunities accordingly
  • Provide advice to Procurement Services customers on relevant contract matters through a variety of means including telephone, email, meetings and written correspondence.
  • Proactively develop improved relationships with stakeholders in line with the quality framework.

What you'll get in return
An hourly rate of £10 to £11 per hour dependent on experience.
