$100M+ manufacturing company supplying solutions into high tech commercial and government environments seeks an applied supply chain executive to support an aggressive corporate growth strategy. We are looking for a diverse team player with solid, hands on operations skills to work closely with all functional department heads to lead the supply and logistics functions. The Director of Supply and Logistics is a senior operations position which reports directly to the SVP of Operations and Finance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the Supply and Logistics functions including Purchasing, Warehousing, Shipping/Receiving, Transportation and Freight Management including the corresponding policies and procedures
Develop and own the Supply and Fulfillment business processes
Qualify, negotiate and manage the timely and cost effective purchase of raw materials, capital equipment, supplies and services
Collaborate with Product Management to identify/qualify third party product suppliers; manage third party product suppliers to cost, quality and delivery objectives
Develop annual cost savings programs and implement strategies for securing materials and equipment at the lowest total cost
Identify, select and qualify best in class industry suppliers for required commodities; develop and implement supplier management program
Manage all warehousing functions including inventory management, VMI programs and 3PL relationships
Manage inbound and outbound freight budget
Develop and implement logistics strategies to reduce freight and warehouse spend while meeting customer delivery performance expectations
Manage component and service provider relationships including raw materials, third party, transportation and 3PL
Partner with business leaders to drive operating performance and act as champion for cost and productivity enhancements
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the supply and logistics teams
Essential Competencies, Qualifications and Experience
Bachelors degree from a 4 year college or university; Masters degree preferred
Minimum of 10 years relevant, hands on, leadership experience in supply chain management from purchasing through product delivery including direct line management of all supply and logistics functions in a manufacturing environment
Experience in managing steel stock purchases and good understanding of the steel supply chain from raw materials procurement through fabrication
Experience with LTL, FTL, Parcel, Air and Ocean modes of transportation and providers of same
Experience in customs compliance, customs brokerage, global shipping standards and freight forwarding
Experience with transportation optimization software
Experience in negotiating with and managing common carrier and van line transportation service providers
Progressive experience in developing budgets, forecasts, financial analysis and reporting at department and corporate levels
Demonstrated initiative with strong work ethic; ability to organize, manage multiple priorities and meet all deadlines without supervision
Excellent negotiation and MS Office skills
Must be comfortable in hands on role and have excellent verbal, analytical, written, organizational and interpersonal skills
