Your new company Our client is a long-established Engineering company based in central Leicester who are a major sub-contractor within the heavy and industrial sector.
Your new role Our client requires an experienced estimator who is familiar with all machining processes and ideally with some familiarity with fabricating and welding processes. You will be working within the commercial team to create quotations from customer drawings of a wide variety of engineering components.
Responsibilities and duties include, but not limited to:
To work within the estimating/sales engineering department integrating with the team to create a point of contact for customers.
Direct contact with customers and suppliers via electronic communication, telephone and face to face.
It may be required from time to time to visit customers.
Ensuring the customers’ requirements are understood and that they are communicated effectively to all relevant internal departments.
Liaise with internal departments to ensure we have adequate capacity and capability to achieve customers’ requirements.
Monitor successful quotes through production to ensure the components are produced technically correct and are profitable, review and suggest production improvements.
The position may require the successful candidate to be a point of contact as a sales engineer for a nominated group of customers addressing both technical and commercial issues.
What you'll need to succeed You will need to be from a machining background and ideally to have served a recognised engineering apprenticeship or qualification with a solid foundation of experience in estimating. You will also need to have experience in the creation of spreadsheets and the use generally of Excel, Word and other core computer skills.
