A General Manager is required to oversee one of the logistics operations of our leading client.

Client Details

Our client is a leading logistics provider.


We are looking for an inspirational leader to take the role of General Manager at one of our clients sites in either London or Essex. The General Manager will have responsibility for the overall strategic responsibility of the operational and commercial requirements of the business and ensure that profitability is maximised while providing excellent levels of service to all customers. Key responsibilities will include:
  • Responsibility for your operation’s business unit P&L.
  • Direct management of the supporting Manager(s) based onsite.
  • Maintain systems to monitor service delivered vs. agreed customer SLA’s.
  • Identify and implement margin improvement opportunities and initiatives.
  • Project manage the implementation of new contract wins.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of your operation and service offerings.
  • Hold and manage the relationship with all key suppliers.
  • Develop the staff resource to support the national requirements of the business through all hours of operations.
  • Responsibility for the development and growth of the business unit in line with company strategy.
  • Standardise processes nationally and ensure operational consistency throughout the network.
  • Organise product and system training & development for new and existing staff.
  • Ensure your supporting Managers have a good working knowledge and understanding of their roles.
  • Ensure all staff are developed to their best potential.


The successful General Manager will live within a commuting distance of London/Essex and be able to demonstrate the following experience:
  • Previous management experience within the logistics industry.
  • In depth knowledge of leading edge transport, logistics and planning methodologies to deliver full end-to-end processes.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Extensive experience of leading and managing operational change.
  • Sound client awareness and customer focus.
  • Sound decision making skills and ability to manage improvement plans.
  • Comprehensive understanding of health and safety.
  • Ability to understand and translate strategy into day-to-day delivery.
  • Excellent budgetary and analytical skills.
