Your new role
A Global Category Manager to specialise in Facility Manager Category Procurement. This role requires leadership of a global procurement category and associated sub-categories, including providing close functional and strategic direction to a geographically dispersed group of regional category and sub-category managers. As an expert in your field, you will be expected to provide ongoing development, validation, sustainable implementation, and review/update of Category and Sub-Category strategies which are closely aligned with business requirements; Strategies will typically cover a 1 to 3 year time horizon. As a Global Category Manager you will be expected to build relationships and work closely with the Procurement Business Partner & Operations organizations to ensure business requirements are clearly understood and taken account of in the strategies and provide expert external supply market knowledge across the category.

The role will require you to:
  • Manage risk with third parties as well as achieve operational compliance across all Indirect Procurement activities relevant to the category
  • Deliver targeted savings within the category ensuring no adverse impact on quality and time requirements
  • Leadership of typically 40 matrix FTEs and provision of functional and strategic direction, coaching and motivation to a team of regional Category and Sub-Category Managers, some of whom may be dispersed.
  • By analysis of spend, detailed understanding of the supply market(s) and internal business requirements, develop and deliver Category and Sub-Category strategies achieving the agreement and support of Procurement Business Partners and their internal clients. Such strategies should ensure the most efficient use of the various buying channels (Strategic Sourcing, Quote services, P-Cards, e-catalogues etc.)
  • Demonstrate compliance with procurement processes regarding e-tendering, Supplier Relationship Management (including performance management) and contract management
  • Create and maintain a Category Handbook which includes details of strategies
  • Builds strong relationships with the Procurement Business Partner organisation, and where appropriate internal clients, in order to ensure appropriate strategies are developed.
  • Lead multifunctional/multinational sourcing teams and projects to achieve contracts, orders or agreements that are aligned with the sourcing strategies and hence deliver appropriate savings agreed with line management, Procurement Business Partners and internal clients
  • Develop and manage relationships with key suppliers including leading major negotiations

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be called into interview your CV will clearly outline the experience you have within a Global FM arena. You will confidently be able to develop sourcing strategies and lead implementing them, have an in depth knowledge of internal purchasing procedures and processes, strong leadership skills within a complex matrix organisation, proven background of successes, complex global FM experience with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Having a proven record of success is key to being pulled in for interview, you will have clear evidence of facts, volumes, values and monies saved throughout your CV and be able to demonstrate that at interview.
