As the Global Category Manager you will develop and maintain successful relationships with internal departments and external suppliers through the identification and creation of opportunities to create customer satisfaction.

Description

What will you do?
  • Manage and develop the Steel category on a global basis, including setting departmental objectives incorporating any global objectives set. Supporting and mentoring members of the team in the achievement of these objectives.
  • Manage the integrity of all site purchasing information held on the company MRP system, including cost and delivery information
  • Responsible for component delivery to the quality and the manufacturing areas to enable the most efficient capacity utilisation
  • Support the Quality and SQA team in the PPAP process and also root cause analysis for any supplier concerns.
  • Ensure the successful achievement of Purchasing KPIs to meet the business needs.
  • Responsible for managing and monitoring inventory targets and stock turns set by the business.
  • Modelling succession planning for team and applying process to provide solutions for the business for exits and promotions.
  • Deliver the transactional process of supplier transition/rationalisation. Managing order placement, dual sourcing, inventory management and supplier readiness.
  • Ensuring freight compliance for Incoming freight
  • Support the Sales and Operating planning process by analysing site and supplier capacities and developing production actionable plans.
  • Assist in supporting the Global team to achieve the lowest "total overall purchase cost" giving the best value for money
  • Collate information on Purchasing activities and objectives. Present performance against objectives to Global Supply Chain Director and site
  • Support the Global Supply Chain team in the negotiation, contract construction and SOP for Import and Export freight
  • Play an active role in supporting the Global Supply Chain team in identifying and developing new suppliers through to approved supplier status, creation of price and supply contracts, ongoing development of existing suppliers, activities to include on time delivery adherence, supplier quality development and delivery programs – (Lean Replenishment System, Direct Line Feed, vendor managed Inventory) etc.
  • Implement the global category strategies for site



Profile

My client are looking for an out and out procurement professional. They need a strong character that will have both strategic and operational experience, and is hands on in their approach. In addition you will have...
  • Degree within a business-related discipline preferred and/or CIPS
  • Proven experience working in a purchasing and engineering environment
  • Experience of manufacturing techniques and processes beneficial
  • Qualified in engineering discipline advantageous
  • Previous experience in using bespoke manufacturing systems highly desirable must possess a strong sense of urgency, tenacity and ownership
  • Previous experience managing a steel category is desirable but not essential





Job Offer

£50,000- £60,000 Base plus package
