The Group Procurement Manager (Aerospace) will take management responsibility for the complete supply base ensuring that the company obtain best possible cost, quality and delivery performance. This role is based in Medway, Kent.

Operating across three sites in the UK, our client are a major supplier to the aerospace and defence industries.



Description



Reporting to the Group Commercial Manager, the Group Procurement Manager (Aerospace) will be expected to contribute towards the development of a group procurement strategy. The role will be primarily responsible for sourcing the most cost effective flow of materials and services to the business, managing supplier and sub-contractor relationships and providing Procurement excellence and expertise across the business in alignment with current & future business needs.
  • Analyse suppliers to select most appropriate for quoting new business opportunities.
  • Develop RFP/RFQ packages and distribute to preferred suppliers for new and existing business opportunities.
  • Visit potential and existing suppliers to conduct supplier assessments
  • Ensure the company are adequately covered with Supply Agreements to obtain good value
  • Ensure that supply chain costs are kept to a minimum in line with site budgets.
  • Manage the company supplier risk management programme.
  • Proactive management of the supply base with 100% OTIF delivery target.
  • Scheduling of key raw material receipts from suppliers balancing the needs of production, warehouse availability and company cash flow.
  • Expediting of raw materials to avoid disruption to production.
  • Be the primary procurement representative in NPI cross functional project teams
  • Be the focal point for technical discussions with suppliers in relation to new and existing work packages.



Profile

The Group Procurement Manager (Aerospace) will be able to demonstrate:

  • Procurement / Supply Chain experience
  • MCIPS qualification or studying towards
  • Strong understanding of sub-contract machining & surface treatment processes
  • Able to read technical drawings
  • Ability to handle a varied workload, both strategic and operational
  • Willingness to travel, predominantly in the UK but sometimes overseas
