By developing and implementing strategic sourcing methods you will achieve cost down whilst ensuring the quality associated with the business is maintained at all times.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Cost Reduction: Use strategic sourcing tools and data-driven decision making to identify and execute opportunities to reduce total cost of ownership, for both goods, services and third-party products.

  • Contracts: Create and agree group pricing agreements and contracts with suppliers (direct, indirect and third-party), in support of operational and business development activities.
  • Processes and Procedures: Develop and maintain procurement processes and procedures in line with the full procurement cycle, including supplier onboarding, supplier performance management and risk management.
  • Sales Support: Support sales teams with procurement enquiries where required during the tender process.
  • Procurement Projects: Identify, manage and track procurement projects, with the intention of improving procurement processes and procedures, and introducing cost savings. Promote and instil enthusiasm for change, for the procurement function and for procurement projects.
  • Cross-functional Working: All responsibilities listed require the successful candidate to collaborate across key functions and across borders. Key procurement stakeholders include purchasing, manufacturing, sales, product management, product development and IT.
  • Reporting: Report monthly on procurement activities to executive management.
  • Personal Development: Develop and maintain a Personal Development Plan with support from Line Manager. Jointly identify personal and professional development areas and agree mechanisms to allow positive progress where required e.g. professional training courses, further education.

The successful candidate will embody the below competencies/characteristics:
  • Able to present decisions with confidence, at board level.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with an ability to work independently and with limited structure.
  • A keen eye for detail, able to analyse and interpret data, and present resulting information.
  • Able to work with multi-disciplinary teams, both in the UK and internationally.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to write English clearly and communicate with international stakeholders.
  • Able to lead decision making meetings without formal structural authority.
  • Has confidence and presence to command attention and respect outside own department and with external organisations.
  • Willing to accept challenges, make decisions and take responsibility for results.
  • Has patience and persistence to work through temporary set-backs or rejection.
  • Able to convey and instil enthusiasm for new ideas and 'unafraid' to promote change.
