Role overview:

Your will be to develop a procurement strategy for Hermes UK and managing the function, covering all business categories, with spend >£250m. You will ned to balance value with service and legislation expectations as well as lead tenders, negotiations and supplier reviews to ensure they fit with our business objectives.

Responsibilities:

What you are Accountable for

  • Set targets for financial savings, ensuring conversion and delivery of benefits and monitor against these
  • Work with all business areas to review areas of spend
  • Evaluate and maintain agreements with key suppliers
  • Proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Influencing stakeholders on recommended areas for change / improvement
  • Commercial negotiations through to contract handover

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for providing strategic direction and leadership for the procurement projects of the business and work with other category specialists, contractors and suppliers in accordance with group policy.
  • Leading contract negotiations and contract management ensuring all Hermes UK procurement activities deliver best value for money, or best service
  • Management of procurement projects in their own right and work as a member of a larger project team on larger scale strategic initiatives
  • Responsibility for planning procurement projects
  • Apply appropriate negotiation techniques
  • Responsible for identifying and optimising synergies wherever possible across the Hermes/Otto businesses to maximise opportunities and leverage economies of scale
  • Utilising technical and market knowledge to offer value and influence the decision making process related to strategic activities
  • To deliver year on year value improvement, measured in £m, with a target 3% annualised saving
  • Provide direction and leadership for procurement working with category specialists and project leads
  • Form independent relationships with key suppliers
  • Sourcing of external expertise where required, derive knowledge and value
  • Development of team

Qualifications:

  • CIPS qualified, or educated to degree level
  • Extensive experience in leading a procurement team
  • Considerable experience of working across multiple categories
  • You will be an accomplished influencer and negotiator, willing to step beyond the traditional procurement role to maximise business opportunities
  • Numerate with the commercial acumen to evaluate procurement opportunities
  • Effective communication skills, highly motivated in meeting challenging deadlines and delivering outstanding service
  • Ability to coordinate business stake holders during a procurement process
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Word, Project
  • Operational knowledge of Contract and Schedule construction and a good level of understanding of contract law
  • Analytical, good communicator, self-starter who leads by example, motivator of team
