After a recent restructure and a period of change, my client is looking for a talented Head of Procurement to establish and lead the new Group Procurement function, defining the strategic direction and continually developing the Procurement Strategy to manage and take responsibility for a large spend and introduce and embed group wide end to end category management that drives real value for money principles and financial efficiencies year on year.

Through their schemes, care and support services they enable people facing a wide variety of challenging circumstances to lead more independent lives and are looking for a talented Head of Procurement with a track record of leading teams through transformational change.


The Role
  • Lead the Group Procurement function, developing and implementing the Group Procurement Strategy, Roadmap and Purchasing Framework, ensuring alignment to the Group’s overall strategic objectives.
  • Establish and manage the Group Procurement function so that it is seen as a centre of excellence for procurement and purchasing, providing stakeholder guidance on best routes to market for services whilst maintaining compliance with associated procurement regulations.
  • Oversee the development of category strategies across the Group, ensuring alignment to business strategies and monitor and aggregate high value spend to ensure Group buying power is fully leveraged through consolidated routes to market.
  • Develop, implement and continually review the short and long-term Procurement Strategy and Road Map, to establish the procurement pipeline and procurement resourcing requirements.
  • Work with senior business stakeholders to develop plans to deliver savings targets, including tracking and reporting on savings and value delivered.
  • Ensure the adoption of new and innovative ideas and solutions to ensure continuous improvement of the service.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing review of the supplier and contract tender timetable to ensure robust management of contract expiry and re-tendering requirements for the Group including supplier rationalisation where required.
  • Collaborate with Group Finance to understand and incorporate relevant budgets into category strategies ensuring robust controls are in place to monitor spend in line with financial protocols
  • Oversee the preparation of information on key metrics including financial data and risks and compliance to ensure appropriate analysis and reporting is carried out as required.
  • To lead, motivate and develop the Group Procurement Team ensuring sufficient resources and effective business processes are deployed to successfully deliver the business strategy, addressing under performance promptly and efficiently.


The Person

  • Proven track record of developing a central Procurement function within a large, complex organisation, delivering procurement benefits including financial savings.
  • Experience of developing and successfully implementing a Procurement Strategy and Roadmap for a large, complex organisation including the implementation of strategic procurement.
  • Professional qualification e.g. MCIPS, or equivalent.
  • Degree qualification in a relevant subject, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of commercial risk management.
  • Effective senior stakeholder and supplier management, both internally and external to the organisation, including the ability to successfully persuade and influence others.
  • Experience of working with project management methodologies.
  • Experience of successfully leading and motivating teams at a senior level, including managing team performance.
  • Customer focused with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work at all levels within the business.
  • Results driven with strong analytical skills, including the ability to critically analyse information, and experience of providing meaningful management information.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure, deliver to strict deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Commercially aware with the focus on continuous improvement and the ability to drive change.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.

Job Offer

My client is looking to offer a base salary of up to £70k plus very competitive package for the ideal candidate
