My client are fast paced dynamic organisation who are looking for a Head of Purchasing to lead the procurement function in key sourcing strategies.

The role of the Head of procurement will be to lead and develop the Purchasing team to ensure effective best cost purchasing of all parts and commodities to support production, NPD and non-inventory / consumable materials. Devise appropriate purchasing strategy for each sector to support and deliver the business growth plan

Location - Crawley
Salary - up to £75k plus benefits

Key responsibilities for the head of purchasing role -

Devise and implement supply strategies that support the New Product introduction and the production plan set by the business
Negotiate contracts for supply of material from existing and new sources in line with business strategy
Reduce material costs wherever possible within the guidelines of quality standards and inventory levels determined by the business and in line with or better than agreed targets.
Ensure adequate and on time delivery of materials for production at all the Company’s production sites in line with inventory strategies and objectives and in liaison with Production/ Planning Managers.
Development and implementation of all purchasing and material control systems.
To be responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of data held in the manufacturing databases and the interface with finance and engineering functions.
Responsibility for the management of the Company’s suppliers upholding and improving quality standards of all incoming materials.
Participate in setting and achieving short-term targets and longer term goals for purchasing and manufacturing operations in general.
Responsible for the review, management and delegation of all purchasing activity within the organisation
Responsible for setting and achieving appropriate stretching KPI targets for the Purchasing function
Undertake cost reduction campaigns with selected suppliers as determined from time to time.
Source new materials for new and existing products as required

The ideal candidate for this position will have -

Good organizations skills to ensure co-ordination and alignment of Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing and customer Programmes
Knowledge of modern Purchasing and manufacturing practices
Creative approach to problem solving.
Effective skilled negotiator, necessary to bring deals to an optimal conclusion
Highly results oriented
Conversant with ERP / MRP systems and inventory control processes
Good interpersonal skills necessary to deal at highest levels of commercial supplier organizations, to influence internally and negotiate externally with Suppliers.
Dynamic leadership setting strategic goals and developing a strong Purchasing team to deliver them
Ability to own, develop and achieve department targets to support the business goals
Ability to drive their team to achieve and maintain tight schedules
Must be a strong leader and communicator within the team, with the gravitas to positively influence other departments and Suppliers.
Innovative in leading change projects - Will need to drive change and continuous improvement.

This role would suit a procurement manager, head of procurement or supply chain manger.
