Customer facing position the Interim Operations Manager will need to have a commercial background (ideally from within a large 3PL). This role will be to ensure all SOP's, KPI's and SLA's are met, ensuring satisfaction for the key client.

Client Details

International 3PL provider with over 650 employees, the company provides the complete range of land operations, international air and ocean freight forwarding and all related integrated logistics services and global supply chain management throughout the United Kingdom.


Responsibilities for the Interim Operations Manager :
  • Enforce and ensure adherence to Health and Safety policy / processes.
  • Develop and deliver KPI metrics in lines with the needs of the business.
  • Budget control and budget reporting in line with KPI assumptions
  • Control/KPI performance reports with investigation and solutions into shortfalls.
  • Ensure KPI performance on Inbound, pick, pack and dispatch is achieved at all times.
  • Highlight operational pinch points where operation and financial performance may be at risk
  • Ensure all queries and complaints are investigated and responded to promptly within agreed timescales.
  • Take the Operational lead in coordinating a programme of Continuous Improvement within the Contract Logistics division.
  • Ensure cross training and contract stability at all times.
  • Undertake special projects; provide statistics and reports as required, assist and lead with investigations of customer complaints.
  • Attend any developmental training as required in compliance with the Companies commitment to Investing in People.
  • Maintain excellent client relationships.
  • Ownership of the resource planning in line with contract / area of responsibility
  • To support in ensuring the efficient and effective achievement of all operational targets and key performance indicators, assisting with investigation into shortfalls.
  • Documents and maintain a good working knowledge of logistics business processes.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of the systems used within the division.
  • Responsible for ensuring stock integrity, including management of perpetual inventory
  • Identify system improvements / changes and liaise with Business Systems to develop agreed enhancements.
  • Demonstrate an Active Leadership style, supporting and driving an engagement culture within the CL division.
  • Provide regular management reports as required
  • Support with system testing, training and post implementation support working with Business Systems for new systems and new system releases.
  • Where appropriate, deputise for other Operational Management team in their absence - act as first point of contact for the customer, contractors and site based teams
  • Ensure 5’s methodology is communicated and adopted into the day to day operational culture


The successful Interim Operations Manager will be able to demonstrate:
  • Previous experience of working in a 3PL Warehouse environment.
  • Strong level of commercial acumen, with a working knowledge of both open and closed book accounts.
  • Previous experience of producing reports and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrable experience at driving best practice in all elements of Warehousing, Systems and QSHE.
  • Experience of managing teams, developing and training individuals.
  • Good level of systems knowledge.
  • Experience of implementations.
  • Highly competent Microsoft Office user.
  • Demonstrable experience of presenting effective solutions to both internal and external stakeholders.

£150-£172 per day
