Client Details

Michael Page have partnered with a world leading manufacturer within its field - A centre of excellence in technology, design and engineering. With an outstanding reputation for customer service and an order book which is constantly growing, they are now looking to develop & strengthen their supply chain team and are currently on the market for a Interim Purchasing Assistant, someone who is looking for an opportunity to grow within a progressive company.


As the Purchasing Assistant you will be responsible for the following:

  • Full responsibility for a range of components and suppliers.
    • The procurement of materials as suggested by MRP, ensuring that all purchases are made to the specified delivery, and within standard cost and inventory targets.
    • All associated purchase order management including expediting and rescheduling of orders in line with inventory targets
    • Management of safety stock in line with forecasted requirements and inventory targets

  • Report any significant supply/logistical problem to the Materials Manager, to ensure problem is communicated to the relevant departments.

  • Ensure that purchasing data is always kept up to date in the MRP system.
  • Ensure that stock levels are kept at optimum levels taking inventory targets and future requirements into account
  • Review / approve supplier invoice queries for rejection / acceptability of costs in a timely manner


The successful candidate for the Purchasing Assistant role will ideally have the following key skills and qualities:
  • Previous experience within a Purchasing/Admin role
  • Computer literate with ERP systems and Microsoft packages, in particular Excel

  • Capable of working under pressure

  • Excellent communications skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong organisational skills
  • Team player

  • Self motivated with a strong record of results

  • Problem solving skills

Job Offer

£18,000 - £22,000

3 - 6 month contract with the scope of it turning permanent
