IT Vendor Manager

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced IT Vendor Manager to support, promote and provide Vendor Management services across all areas of IT, enabling the organisation to get the best value from its IT Vendors.

This is an excellent opportunity an experienced supplier manager to work across all areas of IT, supporting the creation and promoting a service orientated IT vendor management function. You will support the Head of IT to develop existing and future strategic vendor partners and champion the benefits of strong vendor management.

We are looking for an experienced and influential supplier manager, ideally with previous experience managing both large IT suppliers and more niche contracts. You will be an effective communicator with a strong service delivery background and experience working within contract management. Main Purpose The Vendor Manager role is to support, promote and provide Vendor Management services across all areas of IT, enabling the organisation to get the best value from its IT Vendors.

What will this role involve?
  • Support the definition, implementation, embedding and continuous development of the Vendor Management Strategy, covering the full lifecycle of IT; Think, Build and Run.
  • Act across all areas of the IT department; support the creation and promote a service oriented IT Vendor Management function, acting as and be clearly recognised as a valued support provider
  • Champion the benefits of strong Vendor Management, influencing key stakeholders and gaining their on-going support and buy-in
  • Support the Head of IT Vendor Manager for existing and future strategic IT Vendors, promoting effectively, and facilitating, supporting and driving positive relationships between those Vendors and key stakeholders within IT
  • Stay informed and connected to the IT Vendor marketplace; be aware of future trends that might impact existing services or provide opportunities; communicate the right information at the right time to the right stakeholders to enable sound decision making
  • Support, educate and encourage the right behaviours in IT around IT Vendor Management, ensuring a focus on value, transparency, high performance and pro-active Vendor management
  • Support the development and maintain a holistic view of IT Vendor Management, ensuring valuable information is gathered, understood and reported to drive sound decision making
  • Support or lead as required the sourcing, introduction, improvement, change and termination of key service contracts, focussing on the areas that can deliver the most value and/or risk reductions
  • Support and influence IT team managers to continuously improve their processes from an IT Vendor Management point of view, demonstrating clear benefits.
  • Support or lead as required, conflict resolution between IT teams and their Vendors, seeking a positive outcome for both parties where possible.
