As the Junior Buyer within this business you will be responsible for managing multiple suppliers in support of factory production whilst ensuring inventory levels are kept within set targets. You will also need to identify opportunities & support efforts to reduce cost and support NPD activities

A pioneer of engineering whose reputation is well established throughout Sheffield. They’re looking for a junior buyer to join their team based in Sheffield, ideally someone with a background in engineering who has experience working within an industrial manufacturing environment.



Description

As the junior buyer in this business you will have the following responsibilities.
  • Monitor purchase orders to maintain delivery schedules.
  • Must be able to develop excellent working relationship with both internal and external customers as well as suppliers.
  • Maintain supplier relationships in order to drive cost reductions while continually achieving the highest level of quality material.
  • Ability to interface with company and supplier senior management.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Plan & expedite the required material to ensure availability to production in a timely manner
  • Report supply issues and assist in finding a solution.
  • Resolve invoice queries
  • Assist the estimating department with pricing for project quotations.



Profile

The successful candidate will ideally have the key skills and qualities.

  • Experience in a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office. (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Purchasing experience

  • Strong negotiating skills, ability to multitask, prioritise work and work closely with other departments.

  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the procurement field.

  • Can take responsibility for resolution of issues.

  • You should be self-motivated & able to prioritise workload

  • Can work to time constraints & use own initiatives to solve problems.
  • Able to read engineering drawings
