Junior Operations Manager

£29,588–£31,885 dependent on relevant experience and location, plus 10% bonus potential and competitive benefits package

You don’t need logistics or unionised experience to be an operations manager at Royal Mail. We’re looking for people who can coach, lead and motivate teams to perform at their very best. About the role

When sent mail has been processed, it’s brought to one of our 1,400 local delivery offices for final sorting and distribution. Delivery Line Managers lead teams of front-line staff, ensuring high performance and excellent customer service by:

  • Working to achieve safety, customer, efficiency and financial targets, understanding and embedding operational standards
  • Using analysis to identify problems and develop solutions
  • Providing individual support and coaching to help team members develop and improve
  • Using continuous improvement to address and resolve customer complaints

This is hands-on management in a busy operational environment at the heart of a local community. You’ll deal with challenges and unexpected events, sometimes by working alongside your team to get the mail out on time. The success of your delivery will be your responsibility – how you make it happen is up to you.

A quick thinker with a passion for improvement, and a talent for motivation and communication, you’ll get results by influencing others and helping them understand how their work affects the overall performance of the delivery office. You’ll need to be ready to handle challenging situations and resistance to change with skill and tact. This isn’t for everyone – but for the right kind of person, it offers huge opportunity for growth and development.
