Marketing Procurement Buyer - Atom Brands

Department/Section:               Marketing

Salary range:                         £28,000+ (dependent on experience)

Place of work:                         Tonbridge

Reporting to:                         NPD Manager

We are looking for a Marketing Procurement Buyer with proven experience to join us in our dynamic and growing brand business, which defies convention and was recently named in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100.

About Us

Atom Brands is the product development and manufacturing business unit within Atom Group which also includes Maverick Drinks (UK distribution) and Master of Malt (global online retail). Our brands include Ableforth’s (Bathtub Gin), That Boutique-y Whisky Co, That Boutique-y Gin Co, That Boutique-y Rum Co, The Blended Whisky Co, Origin Single Botanical Gin, The Handmade Cocktail Co, 1897 Quinine Gin and Darkness!

In the last 5 years, our brands have won dozens of global awards (World’s Best - Blended Whisky, Blended Malt, Grain Whisky, Liqueur, Gin, Spiced Rum & Pre-mixed Cocktail - many on multiple occasions) regularly triumphing in blind tastings against some of the world’s largest and longest-established products from businesses three orders of magnitude larger than ours. This speaks to our no-compromise approach to creation and crafting. We make the best - we don’t work backwards from price-points or seek to ‘fill gaps’.

Job Purpose

To cost effectively source and purchase everything that the brand and trade marketing teams need in order to make us more efficient with getting marketing activity to market.

Essentials of the job

  • Working with the NPD Manager and Global Head of Marketing on establishing the complete needs of brand and trade marketing teams. Formulate annual purchase plan.
  • Based on this plan. Ensure that marketing secures the best quality, pricing, payment terms  and contracts for products and services it purchases
  • Negotiate prices, payment terms and agree contracts for goods and services, monitoring their progress
  • Carry out company checks on all suppliers and contractors in order to access reputation, reliability and financial status before trading. Ensure compliance with VAT and IWRS.
  • Manage marketing procurement credit card, ensuring that expenditure stays within limit and that VAT receipts are uploaded to accounts each month
  • Liaise with product procurement team to ensure sharing of best practise and any potential leverage at a group level.
  • Liaise with the relevant marketing departments to ensure stock levels are maintained
  • Ensure contracted work and products have met expectations and have been delivered on time
  • Review and complete relevant documentation
  • Update files and Google Docs when applicable

Experience, skills and qualifications

  • Solid experience working within a procurement and/or marketing procurement function for a fast-moving organisation; ideally educated to degree level
  • Knowledge of value chain management, as well as procurement and supply management principles and practices
  • Strong IT skills, including good working knowledge of Excel; knowledge of Google Docs would be an advantage
  • Good analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Strong planning, time management, coordination and organisation skills

About you

  • Strong team player
  • Great customer service ethic
  • Sense of urgency
  • Self-motivated
  • You will thrive under pressure and working to tight deadlines

Why work for us?

Other than the standard benefits you expect to see from a business (think pension, cycle-2-work scheme, free eye care vouchers, childcare vouchers) we also offer…

  • Flexible working We’re focused on productivity and will work with you to make sure you’re happy with how you work.
  • Free food A hungry worker is not a happy worker. We stock our kitchens with what you need to get you through the day.
  • Free fancy coffee George Clooney endorsed, no less...
  • A relaxed working environment There are no suits and ties here (unless you insist).
  • A challenge The opportunity to make a difference to the future of the business. It is our people who put us in the 2017 Sunday Times Fast Track 100.
  • Personal Days Seven completely flexible personal days on top of your annual leave, because we all need a duvet day from time to time.
  • A healthy staff discount on our world-class range. Just in case that makes a difference.
  • (Un)healthy irreverence National pizza/doughnut/pie/lemonade/etc day? We got it covered.
