A dynamic, manufacturing business require a Materials Controller, to manage and develop the materials management function. Applicants need materials control, purchasing or materials management experience within a design and manufacturing environment.

A strategic and crucial role within the business, the Materials Controller will be responsible for managing and developing the materials department. The Materials Controller will manage all aspects of materials flow, and maintain accuracy over all goods inventories, including transactions, tactical purchasing, sub-contracting, planning, scheduling and shipping.

Specific duties of the Materials Controller include:

1. Manage MRP to provide capacity planning, scheduling, inventory control and material purchasing
2. Analyse customer demand, sales forecast and historical material usage
3. Develop and implement strategies across; inventory management, forecasting, and purchasing
4. Prepare customer delivery reports, and provide updates on delivery schedules
5. Develop relationships with suppliers
6. Provide MRP system training to other users
7. Use MRP to evaluate, monitor and report on supplier performance
8. Inventory and Stock counting activities - investigate discrepancies and take corrective action
9. Contribute to the preparation of materials budgets
10. Work with stakeholders in; engineering, manufacturing and Quality to achieve cost reduction targets

Materials Controller applicants should meet the following criteria:

1. Supply Chain, Purchasing or Materials Management expertise within a manufacturing business
2. Experience using an MRP/ERP system
3. An understanding of LEAN techniques and continuous improvement tools
4. Experience of managing and building relationships with suppliers
5. Degree educated - advantageous
6. An interest in the technology sector with be advantageous
