A new and exciting opportunity has a arisen within a growing manufacturer. Due to a 30% increase in sales, my client is looking for someone with the ability to support the supply chain function by being involved with purchasing, materials, inventory and operations. The Materials Planner will play a pivotal position within the business and has been created to strengthen the existing team in Sheffield.

Client Details

A privately owned family company, they specialise in manufacturing a number of bespoke products, at the highest quality. A business which prides itself in the service they provide, they have a number of qualified installers based around the UK which offer a fitting and maintenance service.

Description

The role as Materials Planner has been created to strengthen the existing team at the location in Sheffield. In this role you will be responsible for the following:
  • Purchasing materials from suppliers locally and overseas, including all Raw Materials, consumables and services.
  • Ownership of Purchasing, Inventory levels, Materials Consumption and Stock replenishment of all materials and products used in our manufacturing, installation and supporting processes.
  • Dealing with quotations, supplier negotiations, order placement and Stores management.
  • Developing systems, controls and processes for the above, including monitoring of supplier performance.
  • Sourcing and introducing new suppliers as required.
  • Supporting the Manufacturing, Installation and Administration teams with other tasks as required in a busy, fast-paced, growing environment.



Profile

The successful candidate for the Materials Planner role will ideally have some of the following key skills and qualities;
  • Must have held a similar Buyer/Materials Controller role, preferably in an SME environment
  • Strong IT skills, with MRP system experience preferred, and ideally with IT systems development knowledge.
  • Preferably experience of Purchasing from overseas suppliers and knowledge of Goods Importing routines.
  • A highly organised individual able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills a ‘must have’ as successful candidate will be required to build and maintain relationships with new and existing suppliers, as well as colleagues in a growing team.
  • Experience of Inventory Management and associated routines preferred.
