Procurement Manager - NEC


Your new role
To provide commercial leadership and governance directly to the projects and Supply Chain Management Teams. Leading them in the purchase of goods and services to meet programme requirements, obtaining value for money whilst meeting contractual and regulatory requirements and minimising risk to the business.

Accountable to the Chief Procurement Officer and Head of Procurement for a nominated business area to:
  • Provide commercial leadership and governance directly to the project and business teams. Leading them in the Purchase of goods and services to meet programme requirements, obtaining value for money whilst meeting contractual and regulatory requirements and minimising risk to the business.
  • Lead the implementation and renegotiation of contracts ensuring appropriate contract terms, achieving equitable balance of risks.
  • Provide commercial leadership and coaching to procurement staff by championing best practice and developing the functions capability to be centre of excellence.
  • Ensure best value decisions are made throughout the supply chain.
  • Be the centre of excellence for commercial guidance to non-commercial staff to ensure effective commercial organisation
  • Maintain key supplier and strategic partner relationships.
  • Ensuring the right mix of suppliers are on the Approved Supplier List to ensure best value when tendering
  • Manage a team of Buyers, Senior Buyers and Supply Chain managers. Ensuring they provide a service to the business areas they are embedded in.
  • Manage Strategic Partner relationships with key suppliers
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in Environment, Safety, Health, Security and Quality.
  • Develop and implement appropriate procurement strategies that deliver value for money whilst meeting contractual and regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement strategies
  • Promote and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders including customers and suppliers
  • Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness of the procurement Function
  • Ensure suppliers meet contractual obligations
  • Develop the right culture and encourage continuous improvement
  • Develop our people and their capability
  • Maximise share holder benefits

Ensure that claims are managed effectively, mitigating the impact on the business and are dealt with justly

What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed in this exciting role you will need:
  • An in-depth understanding of complex procurement/project delivery in highly regulated markets
  • Extensive understanding of commercial, contractual and financial project drivers
  • Extensive understanding of commercial contracting strategies within an engineering environment
  • Extensive contractual/legal knowledge
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry standards forms of contract typically NEC
  • A good understanding of the Microsoft platform and applications particularly Excel and Word
  • MCIPS or other appropriate Professional Qualification Degree educated or equivalent Ideally member of an industry body i.e. CIPS or equivalent.
