I am currently recruiting for an Operational Buyer on behalf of a well known organisation in North-West Leicestershire. Commutable from Loughborough, Derby, Coalville and Tamworth, this Manufacturing business are offering the Operational Buyer the chance to learn from an experienced Purchasing team.

This large team will provide a fantastic environment to grow as a Buyer as you will receive internal and external training, but previous experience in a Manufacturing / Engineering environment is required. The Operational Buyer will be working closely with other Buyers and senior stakeholders to ensure successful management or all Procurement activity.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Creating and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers
  • Ongoing maintenance of supplier catalogues
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities by reducing the number of suppliers
  • Assisting with tender activity and supplier negotiation relevant to your region
  • Approving and releasing Purchase Orders
  • Working closely with stakeholders to ensure Procurement targets are reached
  • Regular analysis and reporting to record key activities
  • Supporting the wider business with regards to compliance and processes
  • Ad hoc duties as required by Management

The successful candidate will have:
  • Relevant experience in a Manufacturing or Engineering environment
  • Previous involvement with the tender process and negotiating with suppliers
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with the wider business in addition to external suppliers
  • Strong numerical, verbal and written skills in addition to good working knowledge of Microsoft Office; you’ll be required to provide concise and accurate reports and analysis
  • Commercial acumen, the ability to use your initiative and a can do attitude
