My client, a leading FMCG distribution company based in Birmingham, are seeking an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to oversee their team through an operational change period.

The ideal candidate will have large team management experience within either a FMCG or Food Warehouse environment, and the perfect candidates may have the opportunity for the role to become permanent.

A leading FMCG distribution company based in Birmingham.


Key responsibilities will include:
  • Strategically manage warehouse in compliance with company’s policies and vision
  • Ensure productivity targets are achieved and that all warehouse processes are running smoothly and promptly
  • Ensure customer orders are processed in an efficient an timely manner
  • Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations
  • Setup layout and ensure efficient space utilisation
  • Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures
  • Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements
  • Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security
  • Manage stock control and reconcile with data storage system
  • Plan work rotas, assign tasks appropriately and appraise results
  • Recruit, select, coach and motivate employees permanent and Agency
  • Identify training requirements for staff
  • Produce reports and statistics regularly to update the Leadership team
  • Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided
  • Organise recruitment of staff and training and implement process improvement initiatives
  • Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met
  • Lead and Manage staff effectively
  • Promote and lead site continuous improvement initiatives


Key skills required:
  • 3 yrs + managing a large warehouse team (c100)
  • Experience within a FMCG or Food distribution environment
  • Experience leading & implementing CI initiatives
  • Experience of coaching, developing and progressing a junior management team
  • Experience managing quality and H & S issues within a warehouse environment
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work effectively
  • Good IT Skills
  • Self driven with the ability to manage own workload
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Budget management and planning

Job Offer

Salary on offer is between £45,000 and £50,000 for a period of 6 months with the opportunity to go permanent
