Plymouth based manufacturer seeks skilled Operations Manager for new opportunity.

Your new company

Plymouth based marine manufacturer currently going from strength to strength seeks skilled Operations manager with experience in manufacturing (ideally carpentry/production) for new role.

Your new role

Your new role as Operations Manager will see you support the Operations Director in the delivery of improved operational performance. You will be tasked with driving the development of the skills profile within production teams and also driving the production & support teams to deliver improved performance and establish, maintain and improve processes. Duties include:
  • Delivery of the production schedule
  • Cost control through productivity & overtime to achieve cost targets
  • Careful use of the repairs and renewals budget to ensure plant & equipment is maintained
  • Ensure that ME's are used to good effect in production
  • Ensure 6S implementation with monthly audits and targets
  • Deliver KPI targets relating to manufacturing as agreed with senior management
  • Team management (up to 250 FTE)

What you'll need to succeed
  • Management experience in manufacturing or marine, preferably with upper luxury brands.
  • Experience handling budgets
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant processes and able to carry out quality audits
  • Experience in supervising a team
  • Strong Leadership of the team
  • Good communication skills
  • Working knowledge of systems – Chess, Quality Systems, T&A, MPS, Change Notes, etc
  • Ability to utilise and analyse software tools such as efficiency trackers, standard work, block plans to enable schedule adherence and meet productivity targets
  • Health and Safety qualified and able to carry out risk assessments, Hazard ID etc Facilitate staff development – probationary reviews/ appraisals/return to work etc
