Operations Manager, food and consumable goods distributor, London

A vibrant and successful food supply company are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to run their London space. This company has a track record in inspiring employees and developing careers and want to add to their existing team.

You will be given the chance to add your own to this expanding company, be an active member of its progression and work within a vibrant environment. This role requires flexibility around working shifts and the passion to ensure the hub runs smoothly 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. You will report to the General Manager, but ultimately lead your own team efficiently. You will enjoy people management and have a track record in customer service and operations.

Your new role:
  • Experience and ambition behind the management of stock
  • Dedication and interest in the company’s mission and ultimate goal of rejuvenating the food supply chain
  • Managing all aspects of the day to day delivery supply, including planning routes, managing van charge scheduling, damage and vehicle maintenance reporting
  • Managing all aspects of the day to day picking operation which include; goods-in, fresh produce quality control, picking of orders, order accuracy checking, issue resolution, stock control and packaging & equipment management
  • Lead and inspire our team of Night team
  • Work as part of a team of Shift Managers and Team Leaders to ensure the hub runs smoothly 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
  • Deliver on cost and productivity KPIs
  • Complete a thorough handover at the end of your shift – looking ahead to the next shift, and back at the last, is just as important as getting the job done on your shift
  • Ensure that the highest standards of Food Safety and Health and Safety are met and maintained always
  • Ensure consistent delivery of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs

  • Experience running a successful warehouse and/or transport operation
  • Strong leadership capabilities- you will be leading a team of up to 15 people and growing
  • You will be dealing with difficult situations, so to be open-minded, calm and positive is paramount.
  • Encouraging and approachable leader
  • Capable at manual handling and working within a refrigerator environment
  • Be able to deliver under pressure on key operational targets & deadlines
  • Be comfortable working nights and a specific shift pattern
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and be excited by working for a growing start-up that’s trying to improve the local food chain
