A retail giant is currently recruiting in the Buckinghamshire region for a Planning Manager

A retail giant located in Buckinghamshire requires a Planning Manager. Your main responsibilities will include:
  • To work cross functionally with the company Stock and Supply teams to provide the distribution centres with the most accurate forecasting and volume information to allow for effective planning and execution of those plans.
  • To work with the Distribution Centres and other areas of the business including but not limited to Central Replenishment, Direct Imports, Central store support and Home Delivery teams.
  • To manage the short term planning process and resourcing requirements on behalf of the division to meet business requirements

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include the following:
  • To manage the short term forecasting and planning activity, ensuring operational plans and key activity schedules are developed and communicated throughout the business.
  • To work with and support other cross-functional business initiatives that impact on Distribution planning and to ensure that the appropriate information flows between Distribution Centres, Stock Control, Stores, Quality Control and Finance.
  • To be accountable for the provision and planning for all resource requirements for distribution centres ensuring full buy in and communications with the site teams.
  • To co-ordinate the reporting of key volume and resource performance indices to provide decision support to Regional Operations Managers and Distribution Centre Managers.
  • To be responsible for managing DC space within cost constraints, whilst supporting the needs of the trading and replenishment teams in bringing in the correct stock in the correct priority.
  • To support the Head of Distribution Planning by providing resource and volume plans for key activities to ensure consistency of approach across Distribution. Key activities can include Catalogue / Flyer allocations RTM & RO, Weekly Workload forecasting etc exercises…
  • To give priority to exceeding the needs of customers, demonstrating and promoting a customer focused approach to operational activities. To coach individuals and arrange appropriate training to help them achieve their personal development needs. Role model the Company values and support corporate and site policies and objectives; whilst effectively managing team members (where applicable) and maintaining a high standard of communication through team briefing / meetings, consultation, employee reviews and one-to-one conversations

Any applicants for the Planning Manager must have:
  • Previous experience in a planning management/planner position
  • Planning experience in a high volume distribution environment
  • Forward planning in anticipation of seasonal promotions and peak periods
  • Strong stakeholder management experience
  • advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel would be advantageous
