Based in N. Yorkshire, my client is looking for an experience Planning Manager to;
  • Have overall responsibility for the site production plan which covers manufacturing, packing, quality control and warehousing.
  • Commit to high levels of OTIF product through influencing all areas of the organisation to achieve a challenging plan.

An international specialist in Pharmaceuticals, based in N. Yorkshire.


The Planning Manager will be responsible for:

Planning Co-ordination
  • Create a smooth and achievable plan which fulfils customer requirements.
  • Influence the end to end planning process to ensure internal and external customers’ needs are met.
  • Use the Oracle system to drive material demands and plan resources.
  • Work with all other internal departments to ensure commitment to the plan.
  • Develop and maintain material control systems to ensure correct levels of stock are held.
  • Have ultimate authority for changes to the fixed plan.
  • Communicate the plan through simple and transparent methods.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the planning process.

  • Influence a team of peers to achieve targets.
  • Coach and supervise the planning team for continuously improving performance.
  • Influence the end to end planning process to ensure internal and external customers’ needs are met.
  • Work on own initiative to drive change and improvement.
  • Efficient planning of work load in order to manage varying priorities.
  • Strong communication across all levels within the organisation.

Reporting and Systems
  • Ensure Oracle system is kept up to date.
  • Utilise Oracle MRP system to create requisitions to ensure inbound stock meets the plan.
  • Develop and maintain material control systems to ensure correct levels of stock are held.
  • Measure adherence to the plan.
  • Compile monthly Dispatch List and Target Figures.
  • Form part of the Group S&OP team.
  • Compile monthly KPI/Management info pack.
  • Report reject batches and expired materials.
  • Maintain departmental SOPs.
  • Respond to internal /external audits within agreed QA timescales.
  • Uphold Health & Safety on site.


The successful Planning Manager will ideally have the following skill set:

  • Ideally a degree/professional qualification in a Supply-Chain / MRP / Scheduling / Logistics-related subject.
  • Significant experience in production planning and scheduling.
  • Experience working in a cGMP aligned pharmaceutical environment.
  • High ERP knowledge, ideally Oracle literacy and familiarity.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead a team and achieve results.
  • Ability to prioritise and focus team on appropriate tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders, and to develop and maintain strong team dynamics and collaboration.
  • Excellent management, negotiating and organisational skills.
  • Is analytically minded with problem solving skills and demonstrates a "can-do" attitude.
  • Constantly self-learn and improve, while role modelling and helping and coaching others to be better too.
  • Focus on what is important for customers by ensuring plans are delivered.
  • Deliver better results by contributing, challenging and finding ways to set new standards.
