Responsible for the provision of professional procurement advice and guidance to staff and managers. Improving procurement processes, systems and governance to achieve value for money and comply with latest legislation and policy.

Our client is a well recognised not for profit organisation with a national remit in the public sector.


Key Work Areas

Advice and application of specialist knowledge and expertise:
  • Lead on complex procurement delivering value for money and compliance with all relevant regulations. In particular working on the transition of corporate services and advising on the establishment of new contractual arrangements.
  • To provide professional procurement and commercial advice including general tendering support, reviewing commercial arrangements, business opportunities and contract management advice.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of existing systems or processes and support the development of new solutions.
  • Development of procurement strategies and realisation of benefits through effective delivery of procurement procedures.

Internal liaison:
  • Meet with key stakeholders to discuss their pipeline of tender activity advising on any areas of high risk or concern.
  • Development and maintenance of positive working relationships with stakeholders, with aim of elevated visibility and value of the procurement team.
  • Analyse procurement reports and investigate any areas non- compliance referring to the Finance Business Partner where necessary.

  • To develop and deliver relevant procurement training to staff

  • Confident in public sector procurement and knowledge of the regulations
  • Able to work autonomously when needed, but able to actively work as part of a team and sharing/supporting colleagues
  • Confident in advising stakeholders and attending meetings to represent procurement on their own
  • Adaptable style and approach to needs of stakeholders and situation
  • Strong project management and organisational ability
  • Eye for detail and sense of pride in their work

Desirable knowledge of the following categories:

  • Travel
  • IT
  • Finance (GPC cards, and advisory supporting services)
  • Used to working with frameworks from 3rd parties (CCS, ESPO etc)
