Procurement Analyst - Newcastle upon Tyne

Our client, a leading FM services provider, are looking for a procurement analyst - newcastle upon Tyne. As a Procurement Analyst you will be responsible for providing procurement and analytical expertise, including spend data, research, supplier performance measurement, cost modelling and analytical support services, to inform procurement and category management, decision making and strategic direction.

As a Procurement Analyst you will have overall accountability for the timely delivery of analytical requirements set out by the Head of Procurement Services and the wider business.

You will support the Head of Procurement Services and work closely with customers and stakeholders. You will champion the functional vision, mission and ambition and ‘live’ the SSC values.

The core duties & responsibilities are:-

  • Work with Procurement partners to assess their business needs and contribute meaningfully to the development of procurement and category management strategies.
  • Develop, populate and maintain complex databases (spend data) and apply analytical tools, techniques and systems to analyse and interpret wide ranging supplier and organisational information and options to support procurement planning and decision making.
  • Devise and develop a supplier performance measurement framework tool/reporting to support delivery of a national SRM programme
  • Undertake research, cost modelling and analysis of supply markets to identify opportunities and inform sourcing strategies.
  • Demonstrate a ‘Can do’ attitude and lead by example when representing the function
  • Communicating technical reports and analysis in a meaningful way to procurement stakeholders given the complexity of procurement analysis and time-sensitive working environment
  • Ability to work with multiple systems or data source elements

Key Relationships:
  • Central Procurement across the UK – CPO, HoPs, Senior Managers
  • Internal SSC functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, IT and Finance
  • External customers such as all UK business units who depend on our services
  • Upward reporting into the Head of Procurement Services
  • External supplier relationships
The job holder will:
  • Understand procurement analysis – effectively engage stakeholders and develop procurement strategies based on sound knowledge of business needs and supply markets
  • Develop robust and detailed spend models using data from a variety of sources – providing insight into supply markets and demand analysis
  • Apply strategic tools such as supply positioning, market segmentation and PESTLE / Porters five forces to analyse supply markets
  • Review and select tools and systems solutions developed to suit the application needed
  • An excellent working knowledge of SAP including how to navigate and extract data
  • An excellent / advanced level of Excel / VBA knowledge and have worked with ‘BIG DATA’


  • Strong working knowledge of ERP (SAP)
  • Strong Analytic skills – draw conclusions from data
  • Experience working in Procurement and Supply Chain
  • Effective communicator who can articulate information verbally and by PowerPoint
  • Advanced Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of 3rd party procurement systems
  • Knowledge of SharePoint
  • Supplier performance management/measurement
  • Knowledge of SQL
