An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Assistant for my client a £450m T/O company based near Chorley This is a newly created role due to an increased order book and will assist the Purchasing Manager and will work on a variety of cost saving projects.

Duties will include
  • Supporting the Purchasing Manager with the overall procurement business strategy
  • Sourcing new products and negotiating with suppliers to secure the best deals
  • Analysing past sales and raising orders with suppliers
  • Attending supplier meetings (both internally and externally)
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding deliveries (and late deliveries)
  • Contacting suppliers regarding credits for damaged products or items missing from deliveries
  • Booking in deliveries from external suppliers
  • Setting up new products on internal inventory system
  • General stock management and liaison with internal departments

Experience/Skills
  • A minimum of one year experience at Purchasing Assistant or Junior Buyer level
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office and some experience of Excel Spreadsheets
  • General commercial awareness
  • Good communication skills with some negotiating experience
  • Analytical approach with attention to detail
  • Enthusiastic and driven, with a desire to learn and progress
  • Ability to work independently, can use own initiative when required
  • CIPS trained or equivalent or willingness to be trained, degree qualified is desirable.
