The job in a nutshell:

As a Buyer at Travelodge you’ll be part of our procurement team supporting us to deliver a commercial, quality procurement service to the business. You’ll be managing the end to end procurement process across a broad variety of categories, delivering to agreed savings targets, and managing our suppliers’ performance whilst mitigating risk. 

You’ll build strong relationships with our internal stakeholders at all levels to help deliver our procurement strategy and continue to build our profile within Travelodge as a valued function.

What you’ll be doing:

Stakeholder management

Build strong internal stakeholder relationships at all levels, promoting communication and innovation
Help business owners develop a sourcing strategy and identify SMART needs

Procurement process

Take the lead on negotiations, contract development and adherence to best practice and procurement policy
Define and conduct requests for information and tenders in support of the budget holders to find the best sourcing solution to meet business and commercial requirements
Collect and analyse spend data, perform data analysis to identify new sourcing and cost optimisation opportunities
Work through the procurement processes to help the business reduce current spend levels and achieve target cost savings

Supplier management

Establish strong supplier relationships at all levels, taking a collaborative approach and working in partnership with key suppliers
Implement and maintain best practices for end to end management of all supplier decisions, sourcing, negotiations, financial analysis, contracting, procurement and ongoing supplier management on your projects


Support the research of best practices within and outside the organisation to establish benchmark data, and use continuous process improvement disciplines to achieve results
Deliver the target savings including cost avoidance agreed on an annual basis

What we’ll expect from you

To succeed in the role, you’ll bring your desire and skills to work in a ‘greenfield’ procurement environment and your established experience in a buyer’s role. You’ll be able to demonstrate your ability to build strong stakeholder relationships, supporting stakeholders through the procurement process whilst also challenging and influencing them when required.

In addition, you’ll need to demonstrate:

driving process adherence throughout the procurement cycle
taking a strategic and tactical approach to cost management and be innovative in your approach to improving costs
your great negotiation skills and ability to  deal with numbers
your ability to work at pace on multiple projects to deadlines
the ability to assimilate information from multiple sources, challenging and quickly assessing validity and understand the true nature of a situation
