An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Category Manager with knowledge of either Logistics/fleet and/or Utilities/professional services for my client based from their Leeds or Hertfordshire office. They are a truly Global business with a turnover exceeding £15 billion.

Main Purpose of the Procurement Category Manager role

You will be a critical member of a highly ambitious team that is a genuine centre of excellence, growing rapidly and global in their horizons. You will possess vision, influence, business sense and sourcing expertise to support the Business Services procurement category onto the global stage. You’ll take full ownership of sourcing strategies that directly support top management decisions and deliver on the bottom line.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute significantly to the overall performance, savings and profitability of the business
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders to support sales bids and source best-value solutions
  • Negotiate the best overall commercial arrangements with suppliers selected through fact-based methods
  • Be a recognised subject matter expert for your category; developing, delivering and implementing the sourcing strategy with a flawless grasp of cost structures, trends and cost drivers
  • Drive change; challenge existing sourcing decisions; coordinate supplier development strategies; always prove potential for improvement
  • Manage relationships with existing and new suppliers

Qualifications & Experience
  • A corporate procurement professional with a substantial blue-chip background and international horizons
  • CIPS qualified or equivalent
  • An excellent stakeholder and supplier manager, equally focused on value for money, service quality and positive strategic outcomes
  • Relevant experience in two or more of these categories - Logistics,fleet,utilities or professional services
  • A successful negotiator
  • Influential and credible at the highest levels
  • A keen instigator and manager of innovation and change
  • Numerate and logical – able to make and justify data-driven decisions
  • Almost certainly degree-educated
