Our advanced gas-cooled reactor (AGR) power station at Hunterston B, south of Largs in Ayrshire, is capable of generating enough electricity to supply one million homes. It's a huge operation and in this key technical role, you'll apply the highest quality standards to every aspect of our procurement on site.
About the role Reporting to our Lead Procurement Engineer, you'll make sure all our procurement activities support the safe and reliable operation of the plant and comply with the necessary safety environmental standards. As well as supporting the Work Week Management process and developing procurement specifications alongside technical specialist and buyers, you'll have a big part to play in the management of our strategic spares technical and company technical catalogues. This will involve monitoring shelf life extensions and identifying and disposing of spares that are obsolete or no longer fit for purpose.
About you To rise to the challenge, you'll certainly need a relevant qualification (HNC or equivalent). And the chances are, you'll have spent time working in a similar procurement environment. But whatever your background, just as important as your practical knowledge and professional experience will be the personal qualities you bring to the role. A natural communicator with a positive attitude and plenty of self-motivation, you'll understand the importance of building relationships across the business to achieve the best results in any given situation.
About EDF Energy A wholly-owned subsidiary of the EDF Group, itself one of Europe's largest energy groups, EDF Energy is one of the UK's largest energy companies and its largest producer of low-carbon electricity. To put some numbers to those facts, we generate around one fifth of the nation's electricity and employ some 15,000 people. What really sets us apart, however, is our fresh approach to the industry. Everything we do is underpinned by a clear customer focus and a drive towards sustainability. Because it's these two factors, we believe, that will define the UK energy industry for generations to come.
