We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and dynamic Procurement Manager to work with us here at BBC Worldwide.

The Procurement Manager will be responsible for the management of procurement activity in the Marketing and Event Categories, and potentially support across other categories including Production. To achieve this, the Procurement Manager will need to work with the business areas to provide professional procurement input into projects. The extent of the support will vary, but potentially may cover all aspects of the procurement process from spend analysis and market evaluation through to contract award and, in some cases, contract and dispute management.

The Procurement Manager will also be required to contribute to Category plans and development of supplier spend data and reporting, supporting the setup of new vendors and data analysis, along with providing operational procurement support to the Senior Category Manager.

This role will be key to ensure that the business select the most appropriate vendors by considering the business requirements, and evaluating these commercially to achieve the best value for money solutions.

The Procurement Manager may also be called upon to support team activities and initiatives, and while the position is focused Marketing, Production and Events, the candidate may need to support other categories as required.

Role Responsibility

Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders in the business and with suppliers by creating a clear supply network to ensure compliance with Procurement procedures, negotiated benefits from services and cost improvement;
  • The Procurement Manager will assist in the execution of Procurement projects and, in particular, support internal clients with little or no procurement expertise;
  • Supporting the business in the execution of the new vendor process, and ensuring that we drive spend towards preferred suppliers;
  • Leading or supporting the procurement process by co-ordinating and drafting specifications, selection criteria, questionnaires, contract schedules and RFx documentation to ensure that the most appropriate supplier selection is achieved, in accordance with Policy guidelines;
  • With the clear sponsorship of the business owner, leading or supporting commercial negotiations to ensure that deals represent the best commercial outcome for BBCW;
  • Supporting the SCM in the preparation and maintenance of category spend data and information, including Category Action Plans;
  • Supporting the Procurement team in identifying fresh procurement opportunities through running reports, data analysis and engagement with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the BBCW supplier expenditure is appropriately challenged and managed;
  • Conduct regular face-to-face / phone / email contact with key stakeholders as appropriate to provide / management/ receive / exchange information / instructions;
  • Supporting the business sponsor to ensure the vendor’s service levels and key performance indicators are adequately defined in the contractual documentation.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A procurement background, and will be required to make an immediate impact, adding to the effectiveness and operational efficiency of the team as it responds to increasing customer demand and corporate efficiencies;
  • Proven experience working with Marketing and Events categories is absolutely essential;
  • Proven ability to work in diverse teams in a complex commercial organisation. The post holder will be required to work within broad ranging project teams, and will need to demonstrate leadership within these projects where relevant, and demonstrate change management skills in so doing;
  • A track record in applying procurement best practice and modern procurement methods to a diverse range of purchasing situations, including the ability to provide effective and accurate analysis and reporting of relevant data, and have a good knowledge of contract law;
  • Experience of manipulating and presenting data to tell a story to the business, and to identify opportunities for efficiencies;
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and persuade both internal clients and suppliers, and to work well in a small team;
  • The SS must be capable of working in a dynamic and complex business environment, with people at all levels. This will include selling and demonstrating the benefits of professional procurement to internal clients and representing the organisation externally
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and stakeholder, and be able to act on their initiative, whilst maintaining attention to detail;
  • Experience in the commercial negotiation of small to medium value contracts.
