The Supply Chain Division in Waltham Forest is responsible for taking a strategic view of the Council’s supply chain, internal and external, ensuring value for money contracts are established, strategic contracts managed effectively and performance and business intelligence used to manage external suppliers and challenge internal services.

An opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Operations Manager in an award winning team to be responsible for leading and developing the operational elements of the Procurement / Supply Chain function, ensuring the service complies with all relevant legislation, regulations and policies.

This role will involve engaging with internal and external stakeholders at all levels in developing policies, governance, systems and training, in person or via phone / email. Reports shall be developed and submitted to senior Council boards. Interaction with suppliers will also be necessary in terms of supporting the Councils e-tendering system.

Responsibilities will also include the line management of operational team members, updating and training the Supply Chain team and other relevant staff members, in changes to policy and legislation, alongside supporting senior members of the Procurement / Supply Chain team through actively promoting the development, delivery and management of the Councils procurement strategies, ensuring policies that govern procurement are robust and fit for purpose.

Working as part of a cross functional team, the successful candidate will understand the importance of effective procurement in an organisation and have the ability to interpret legislation and guidance and translate this into workable organisational policy We’re looking for someone who has a minimum Level 4 CIPS or awareness of / experience of working in a procurement environment.
