Procurement Specialist
MI5 and MI6

Salary: £38,504 - £41,492 (depending on relevant experience and qualifications)
Location: Central London, some UK travel
Extraordinary Purchases.
Extraordinary Procurement Roles
MI5 and MI6 help to keep the country safe by investigating and disrupting threats to our national
security. It’s a complex, dynamic and sensitive commercial environment, where delivering a
prompt, sustainable and professional procurement service is vital across all of our activities.
The list of items we procure is a little out of the ordinary. But then, would you rather work in a
team fulfilling the same old repeat orders? Or play a senior role in a setting where the deals are
incredibly complex, and the technology’s pushing the boundaries of what’s possible? Ensuring
we have everything we need to keep the country safe is an opportunity guaranteed to invigorate
your career. And fire your imagination.
About the role

Working on a wide range of procurement activities across a joint team, you will be contributing
to projects across the full life cycle, predominantly in the ICT category. Many will be unique to
the organisation.

In addition to running your own assignments, you will be working alongside senior members of
the team on more complex and major projects. This may involve managing multiple projects
with the wider intelligence community. There is a drive to promote greater collaboration which
will achieve savings and benefits at both MI5 and MI6. We will expect you to think practically
and innovatively to overcome commercial obstacles and get results.
About you

You will be part or fully MCIPS qualified or willing to complete the qualification during your
first two years with us (Prince 2 or a relevant category management qualification is also an
advantage). We’ll expect you to bring experience of leading a wide range of commercial
activities and projects, particularly in ICT and outsourcing markets.
You need a demonstrable track record in managing significant ICT based category spend
together with good knowledge of the latest ICT technology developments and key supply chains.
Strong analytical skills and close attention to detail are essential as you will be involved in
post-tender negotiations, contract management and ongoing supplier relationship management.
