My client are a specialist manufacturing organisation who are looking for a production planner to work in their manufacturing department.

The role of the production planner will be to receive, process and progress allocated Work Packages submitted by Project Managers and ensure that the required hardware is procured, built and tested (or repaired) to the agreed schedule to meet the internal and external contract requirements. This includes ensuring that manufacturing orders and route card are generated in a timely manner to support the build of hardware to the stipulated build standard.

Location - Loudwater

The role repsonsibilties of the production planner will be -

On release of Contract or Sales Order initiate survey for repairs and initiate manufacture for new build items based on requirement of submitted.

Ensuring that the allocated hours on WPDS are achievable, resolving with PMs wherever this is not the case.

Identifying long lead items and arrange timely procurement.

Ensuring that materials are available in time to achieve output forecasts whilst avoiding excessive surpluses.

Using the MRP system to ensure route card routings are correct and load in timely manner.

Initiating and tracking the progress of kitting to keep the Shop Floor fully loaded, prioritising as appropriate.

Highlighting any potential risks to output schedule or budget to the Head of Manufacturing and the relevant PMs, proposing mitigation action wherever possible.

Implement the design changes (RDCs) during the production process ensuring that they are detailed on the relevant route cards.

Monitoring and recording all pertinent data required by the contract to ensure full traceability and correct build standard is achieved.

Liaising with Commercial, Design, Manufacturing Engineer, DO. Purchasing, QA, as necessary.

Producing planning, forecasting, progress and project reports, as required.

Engaging directly with Programmes and Engineering on any issues that are impeding the progress of manufacturing activity.

Attending project and progress meetings as required.

Where tasked, providing cover for Greenford based planning activities, developing familiarity with their MRP system.

Where tasked, providing support to the roll-out of a new MRP system.

Where tasked, running the MRP or related systems eg IFS, Preactor, Costpoint.


The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills -

Manage the day to day tasking of the Loudwater-based test Team with the aim of ensuring that production and repair test requirements are met in the most effective manner.

To provide direct input to the ‘across sites’ Test Team Lead on an issues with forward load and providing supporting justification for making resource changes re: the Loudwater-based element, either up or down.

Support across site calibration and GFE management activities, ensuring that we remain compliant to our respective procedures (not managing yourself – supporting).

Monitor and progress on reducing the repair backlog and survey turnaround time

Familiarity with MRP systems and ideally 2 year’s practical experience of their use. IFS or Costpoint experience would be an advantage

Ability to use MS Word, Excel essential.
