A new and exciting role has developed for a Production Planner to join a growing manufacturer based in Sheffield. The sole purpose of the role will be to support the planning team, to meet the high demand of the customer. As this role is considered as a succession plan there may possibly be the opportunity for you to progress.

As the Production Planner within this business you will be based out of the Sheffield site and be responsible for the following.

  • To support the Master Production Scheduler and Supply Chain team where necessary

  • Provide cover for Master Production Scheduler as required

  • Cover the roles of Master Production Scheduler and Supply Chain Assistant when required

  • MRP review, ordering and management to produce and provide all production planning for facility

  • Materials management for all production requirements to align supply with demand throughout the facility

  • Work closely with warehouse/stores Shift Leader/Section Leader to improve stock accuracy

  • Handle all documentation for supply to production in a timely manner

  • Develop and implement alternative planning procedures to provide efficient and effective planning and production including daily ‘time bucket’ planning

  • Maintain system information, e.g. new product codes and product code settings

  • Communications to all necessary departments

  • Inventory management support

  • Phase in/phase out assistance

  • Short notice order supply management

  • Forecast management

  • Any other tasks to support the Master Production Scheduler or Supply Chain


The successful Production Planner will ideally have the following skills and experience.

  • Worked within Manufacturing, Engineering, or production

  • Experience of working within a planning role

  • Use of MRP/ERP system for materials management

  • Competent IT skills

  • Adhering to strict deadlines

  • Proactive work ethic

  • Problem solving and decision-making

  • Ability to work with other departments

  • Experience in stock management

  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure

  • Organisational skills
  • Work in a structured manner
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Good inter-personal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with BOMs
  • Able to show initiative
