An exciting opportunity has arisen in Doncaster for a Purchasing & Inventory Specialist. This role is a new position within an SME organisation looking to increase their turnover significantly over the next 12-18 months.

Client Details

Our client, based in Doncaster, are currently experiencing strong YOY growth. Operating in a specialist field of manufacturing and engineering the business has a lean workforce and is looking to add a new position of Purchasing & Inventory Specialist. The organisation is one of a few businesses within a larger group which provides strong financial backing offering security and longevity to their employees careers.

Description

The responsibilities for this position of Purchasing and Inventory specialist are as you'd expect in a lean organisation giving the successful candidate the opportunity to take ownership across the supply chain from sourcing, inventory control and planning, through to logistics.
  • Maintaining and developing OTIF capabilities
  • Managing inventory in a high-pressure environment
  • Managing and developing the ERP system - working with IT
  • Sourcing new suppliers and managing existing ones
  • Managing existing contracts and supplier performance against those contracts
  • Working with stores and conducting regular stock takes
  • Forecasting upcoming levels of demand to ensure materials are on site for production
  • Managing a logistics spend

Further training will be offered to the successful candidate so while some of these responsibilities are pretty essential there is knowledge in the business to support development of the successful candidate.

Profile

The successful candidate for this position of Purchasing & Inventory Manager will have:
  • The ability to seek out solutions autonomously - a natural problem solver
  • The confidence and gravitas to work within a high-pressure manufacturing environment
  • Some technical understanding (ability to read engineering drawings in essential)
  • Exposure to working within an SME (desirable)
  • Experience of working with ERP systems (SAP or Epicor is desirable)
  • An analytical mind - juggling responsibilities of raw material lead times, stock management and export
  • Held a purchasing / inventory control position within a Manufacturing and/or Engineering environment.

Job Offer

£35,000 - £40,000
