Responsible for the day to day running of the Purchasing function, working closely as part of the Supply Chain Team, the candidate will be responsible for the development and execution of Purchasing strategy and driving continuous improvement within the supply base

Client Details

A specialist and highly regarded stock - distributor

  • Direct and lead the Purchasing Team on a day to day basis in support of overall achievement of agreed business objectives and personal development plans
  • Ensure on time delivery targets are met in full, to achieve best in class parts availability and exceed customer service expectations. Manage and deliver NPI/spares range availability targets, to ensure year on year sales growth objectives can be met
  • Co-ordinate and lead spare parts and service provider [eg: logistics, distribution, packaging], cost reduction programmes. Develop new initiatives, liaising cross-functionally [as appropriate], to ensure optimum commercial leverage/cost saving synergy
  • Direct & co-ordinate purchasing activity to achieve annual budget targets and strategic growth objectives
  • Evaluate and develop the supply base, introducing new suppliers as appropriate to meet the current and future needs of the business. At the same time ensuring continuous improvement in terms of total cost, quality, delivery, NPI, [ie: time to market]

  • The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in international purchasing, covering direct, indirect commodities, services, preferably within a spare parts and/or retail distribution environment
  • Proven track record in commercial negotiations/contract and SLAs plus the development and execution of commercial and design driven cost reduction initiatives
  • Background in the management and control of large SKU counts with varying demands in a high-volume spares or FMCG organisation
  • Ability to lead a small team (3)
  • Knowledge and exposure in international low-cost country sourcing and supplier development programs, covering regions such as Eastern Europe, India and China

Job Offer

Salary ranges from £35,000 to £40,000
