Exciting opportunity to lead the purchasing of all components and raw materials for a fast growing consumer good business. Must have a strong technical knowledge of buying metal or electronic components, with experience managing a team of buyers and planners.

Our client is a consumer goods business who are the absolute market-leaders at what they do. They create products that are some of the most well known available, using only the best material that is long lasting and the highest quality.

The business is based Uxbridge and have created anon-corporate culture throughout the business. The business are dynamic, innovative and passionate about creating good products.


Responsible for the day to day management of the Purchasing department, motivating and leading the team are essential qualities in this role. The successful candidate will ensure that parts are brought to the correct specification, on time and cost effectively. You must be able to demonstrate a strong purchasing background and have worked in a technical environment buying a range of components for a manufacturing environment. You will also be responsible for ensuring stock levels ensuring that they meet the business projections and have worked in an environment which operated an S&OP.

Main duties
  • Control the Purchasing Department budgets - Circa £14m spend.
  • Actively engaging in the cost reduction programs and targets set by the business.
  • Developing key relationships with suppliers.
  • Drive the purchasing strategy for all major components.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Reporting monthly the KPI’s for the department, with action plans to address any adverse trends.
  • Supporting the NPI process and ensuring new products meet the NPI demands, including sourcing, supplier selection and QCD.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Reviewing the stock levels to ensure the business meets its production plans whilst maintaining minimal levels of stock.

Key essential skill required

  • Good negotiation skills
  • Experience working with suppliers globally.
  • Experience managing a team
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in a "hands on" procurement role
  • Experience working in a technical procurement environment (aerospace, automotive capital machinery, engineering)
  • Working knowledge of the relevant modules within an MRP system
