Purchasing Officer required for Manufacturer based near Bridgend

Your new company
A market leader in their field for the UK and Ireland, and part of a Pan European group of manufacturers.

Your new role
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Officer is responsible for the day to day running of the purchasing process, in terms of administration, purchase order creation and other purchasing related tasks. The Purchasing Officer will also have the ability to identify and execute cost reduction and process improvement opportunities in line with the Purchasing Manager’s strategy, including the management of certain contracts and suppliers so as to provide a thorough understanding of the spend in this area.

The Purchasing Officer will work closely with the Engineering Stores Manager to process the Engineering Stores Stock Re-Order Report, and to realise the cost reduction benefits inherent in this process. The role is also responsible for undertaking general administration tasks within the offices and supporting the business in relation to the facilitation of client visits.

In the first instance, this role will be predominantly transactional, but the PM has designs on this role developing into a more strategic function based on good performance.

What you'll need to succeed
You will come from a purchasing related background (preferably with a bias towards engineering and/or Facilities Management) and potentially will be part-CIPS qualified. You will also be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven track record in Supplier Relationship Management, and the ability to lead project teams. In terms of IT skills, you will boast advanced skills in Microsoft Office and would possibly have a good knowledge of EAM and S21.

What you'll get in return
A salary of up to £24k, dependent on experience, plus a benefits package.
